National Juried Show Brings in Visitors and High Praise

Raymond Kinstler, juror for the First National Juried Show signs his book.  The artist spent over two hours meeting and greeting following his talk on March 30.  More than 1,000 visitors found their way to the Art Alliance Center to view the exhibit of 100 paintings.

First place went to Carol Hubbard for her watercolor titled "Plaid Shirt."

"The Morning Walk" by Morgan Samuel Price took Best of Show.

New Executive Director Linda Fudala-Tucker took over the reins from Carlene Stewart at the end of April.  Carlene retired after eight years of incredible service.  She left big shoes to fill.  Dick Tolsdorf is the new BGAA president, and the new season is shaping up with great workshops, shows, and parties!  Keep watching this site for updates on what's going on next season.

National Juried Art Exhibition
March 30 - April 30, 2007

Our most prestigious and ambitious exhibition to date, with awards totaling $5250, this show is for two-dimensional paintings and drawings.  The works will be juried by Everett Raymond Kinstler, from submitted slides.

The exhibition will kick off on March 30th with an Art Lecture by Everett Raymond Kinstler at 4 p.m. in the Crowninshield Community Center.

A special Members Only Opening Reception will follow, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Banyan Street Art Center.

The Exhibition itself will be on display at the Banyan Street Art Center until April 30th.

Art Alliance Celebrates 20th Anniversary

In the early 1980's a group of artists saw the need for an art league in Boca Grande.  This group had drawn together earlier from a need to share information between artists about the business aspects of art as a profession.  As artists worked together a desire to promote community awareness of the arts grew.  In June of 1987 the group officially became the Boca Grande Art Alliance.  The mission statement became "The goals and purpose of the Boca Grande Art Alliance shall be to promote education, community awareness of the arts, and cultural advantages in the community."

In the 20 years since its inception the Art Alliance has lived up to its mission statement by providing workshops, art lectures, art films, art shows and art scholarships for the community.  As a celebration of the 20th anniversary we are holding our first "National Juried Art Exhibition" March 30th-April 30th, 2007.

Membership in the Art Alliance is an investment in the cultural life of the Boca Grande Community.  Your membership dollars allow us to present exhibitions and shows free of charge for all members of the community.  Your contributions help our organization support young adults with scholarships and give younger children an opportunity to learn about art.

As we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Art Alliance we look forward to the generosity of those who take pride in the cultural vitality of Boca Grande.
