Gyotaku-Printer of Fishes
with Heather J. Fortner
Heather first saw a gyotaku fish-print in Hawaii in 1976 and has been hooked on the art form ever since. An ancient art form of Japanese origin, gyotaku involves inking the body of a fish, then pressing paper to receive the ink image. The results are startling in their detail and realism.
In this one-day workshop you will learn the steps to capture the features, color, and energy of a fish on handmade "rice" paper. Expect to finish the day with several prints of reef or sport fish from the west coast of Florida.
